NYC Handing Over Community Gardens to Residents

Community gardens have been spread throughout Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx, thanks to The Trust for Public Land.  The Trust purchased the land for some 30 gardens in 1999 for $3 million and the gardens are said to be valued at $7 million today.  The gardens where purchased to promote environmental sustainability throughout NYC.  Today the gardens where handed over to the residents of the communities.  The residents will be able to harvest and care for the gardens in which they have helped create!
